Spiked Zinger Lily, a perennial rhizomatous herb, belongs to family Zingiberaceae, commonly known as 'Kapur-kachari' widely available in moist, damp-shady evergreen forests and popular in traditional systems with several ethnobotanical notes. For identification of superior genotypes, a total of 34 accessions were collected from Indian Himalayan Region along with passport information. Rhizomes of all accessions were chopped, dried and subjected to Clevenger Hydro-distillation unit for essential oil extraction and observed 0.06-6.12% oil yield. In addition to this 1, 8 cineole (8.22 -58.15 %) was observed as a major constituent of the essential oils on Gas Chromatography (GC). Essential oil content and major chemical constituent 1, 8 cineole, both the parameters revealed an increasing trend along an altitudinal gradient of 1400-2875 m amsl. Keywords

By taking a form of Lagrange's equations of motion, Jones [1] studied unsteady, non-homentropic flow of a polytropic gas in one dimension. He found an exact solution representing progressive waves and applied it to the problem of a shock advancing into a region in which the pressure was constant but density and so the temperature varied according to a simple power law.- Variation in Gametophytic and Sporophytic Features among Three Disjunct Populations of Funaria hygrometrica

The paper reveals the variation of gametophytic and sporophytic in three different populations of Funaria hygrometrica collected from Shillong, Srinagar and Darjeeling. The morphology, dimensional parameters and ornamentation of spores are significant in delimitating the taxa in Funaria. ANOVA test showed significant differences in the length of stem length, leaf length&breath, basal and apical cell size, length of seta, length of capsule, exostome and endostome length, polar axis and equatorial diameter of spores. The PCA graph of composite data shows clear segregation among three samples from three locations. Canonical Correspondence Analysis revealed the correlation between climatic factors and morphometric parameters. This study establishes that dimensional aspects should not be considered always for species identification and spore ornamentation should be considered along with other morphological features for species identification. Keywords
